Letter [manuscript] : Alexandria, Virginia, to Peter Carr, 1808 October 17.

Patterson requests Peter Carr to ask his brother Dabney Carr about Virginia law concerning the crossing of the state line into Virginia with slaves for personal use, not sale. He also sends family news and mentions the end of General Samuel Smith's U.S. Senate term if the Federalists obtain a majority in the Maryland state legislature.
